Well, it's hitting all the film festivals right now...we'll see where it goes!! Thanks for the very nice comments, I appreciate it! It's a little itimidating, my first film shoot. I really wanted to do a good job!
Funny thing is, these shots were taken while they were setting up the lighting for the scene. I had natural lighting for these and only the last one was from an actual scene...the other two was me following around the lead.
I learned very quickly that being the photographer on set is very hard. You are low man on the totem pole...your priorities are not their's. They need to shoot...and I had to sneak in to get the shot and be out by the time shooting started, cause the sound equipment can pick up the 'click' of my camera. There are several people behind the camera...the camera person, the person with the clacker, the sound people, the grips...it's very crowded (especially when we were inside)...not a whole lot of room for me. I had some frustrations...especially in low light situations...cause I couldn't use a flash. Things I need to work out for the next film shoot this summer.
I know there is a thing called a Sound Blimp, which you put around the housing of your camera to muffel the camera sounds...but it is really expensive and these are low budget films, which I am shooting gratas. Other suggestions for both the sound and the low light?

I seen on the news lastnight that they are going to be doing some more filming in Columbus soon, To shoot some scenes that they couldn't do a couple of weeks ago because of the bad weather. I am thinking about driving up there with my camera this time and trying to get some celeb shots. Any word when they are shooting in Oshkosh?
Hi Brian...my brother-in-law tends to shoot close to where the boys grew up. So, these were shot on a farm outside of Neenah. They also shot at a school in Oshkosh and at factory in New London.
I know they just finished the call for extra's for the movie...and they are building the sets there now...in Downtown Oshkosh. I'd be up for a mini-GTG to go shoot celebs!! I'm trying to find out the schedule...my brother-in-law might be able to help with that.
Awesome job Terri! I love the lighting in all of these. That is very interesting about the photographer being the "low man on the totem pole". Maybe once you develop a relationship with them you will have better access? They will love these shots and I suspect will be more willing to work with you this summer!
Thanks Jason!! There is a specific heirarchy on a set...the problem is, below the director, camera man, lighting/sound specialists...everyone else is trying to fight for their spot in the food chain. And these films are made on grants from the college...so, it's the students that are learning while working on the set...so they all think their job is more important than mine! And of course, it's new students for every film! I did smooze with a couple of the students...so, they did try and get out of my way when I was shooting. I just need to command more of a presence and not feel so intimidated by the whole process.
