Hi, just wondering whether there are any methods to improve the compression quality of images during saving for web! On some of my stuff, I'm getting quality in the low 70's (generally landscapes!). Is there a way to prep an image after pp or are there certain stages in the pp that particularly diminish quality and that should therefore be avoided?! I have found portraits to give a very high compression quality, but landscapes do seem to suffer sometimes!

I could give you some suggestions, but EddyG has already covered it pretty well in this tutorial that he posted just the other day. It is oriented to Photoshop, but the concepts apply to most image editors.

Landscapes do seem to suffer more. Because of the fine, complex detail in them, they do not compress as well, so more compression is needed to get the files to the needed size. That compression is sometimes visible.

thanks steve! I already follow this procedure though, what I want to know specifically is whether there are any tricks when preparing images prior to saving for web that will vastly increase the compression quality above what's already been mentioned in that tutorial (e.g. I have noticed that by running the noise filter through after resizing, the quality hikes up quite a bit, however that tends to soften the image!). Any other tips would be very welcomed!
