I'm so frustrated! Every time I try to submit an image for a challenge, I preview it and it looks horrible! I have a beautiful, very clear file from a good camera and I get it on the site and it looks out of focus and seriously pixely with terrible gradiation changes. I follow the instructions on the site for "Using Photoshop to Prepare Photos for DPC Challenges" to the letter. Any thoughts?

32-bit display set on your monitor?
Nikon generally does Adobe RBG and when uploaded, converts to sRGB (common problem)
Can you give us an example or PM me if you want to send the files if in a challenge.

are you saving as a GIF perhaps? Make sure JPG is selected and use the Save for Web command, not Save As. Optimize to 150K or 200K depending on the rule set.

Do you have proof colors checked under View?

What filesize are you saving to?

JPEG compression is the first thing I noticed when I looked at this one:

Your file is only 19k in size. You can really see the compression artifacts around the edges of the windows. You are losing a lot of your detail right there. What program are you editing with? Most image editors will allow you to adjust the JPEG compression before saving the file.

the rest of your past challenge entries look ok and have reasonable file sizes.

Definately JPEG compression. I bet that compression is set to 50 or 60%. 19k is way too small for that size of an image.
