I shot my first entire solo wedding on the 6th for the girl whom I normally assist for. And not only did she LOVE the photos and claim they were better than what she normally does, but she offered me all her upcoming weddings [until sept..with her client's approval] because she's pregnant and having a hard time getting around...and when we work together the shots are very physical. Anyway, thought I'd share the good news since it means awesome money, an awesome opportunity and GREAT exposure.

Congrats! That's really cool and probably an exciting time in your life. You should be sure and take some time to recognize what you've achieved. Somebody is telling you that you are a good photographer. This could be a stepping stone for you to great things. Cheers.

Wedding photography goes WAY beyond the technical aspects of photography. All of the correct framing, lighting, composition, etc. can't make up for the "eye" of the photographer - What to shoot, when to shoot, from what angle, etc. When people are involved, you must satisfy their emotional expectations. Of course the technical aspects have to be pretty sharp too.
Sounds like you have both the ability AND the "eye". Congratulations. I'm really happy for you, and wish you lots of success.

Thanks Ron, but don't get excited for me until I post a link to some photos and you can all judge for yourselves ;-) I've seen some terrible wedding photos that people absolutely loved, who knows, maybe I'm one of those people *crosses fingers* certainly hope not though.

Double wow! Thanks so much Rooster! As far as photography knowledge goes, I know as much about photography as I know about musical scales [much to my guitar instructors dismay] which is very little [even though I can still play the guitar and perform]. I could be a bad example to other photographers as my way is very different from the normal way..in most instances this is what gets me my photography jobs and I feel very blessed in that regard. Thanks again Rooster, your last two challenge submissions have been just awesome!

And while I'm here, I might as well point out that my name Goldberry comes from Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring..if you hadn't read it, you should! And to illustrate that using real life in your work can be a beautiful thing, LOTR is based on actual events and wars in the history of England, even the town names etc were taken from actual places [not all, but ya know].
Congratulations! -- remember that if the blessed couple like the photos, then they are by definition great photos whatever any of us think.
Was Goldberry the Queen of the Elves? I haven't read LOTR since the first time it was popular again, in the 1970's ....
That was Galadriel. Goldberry was the princess who lived with Tom Bombadil who took in Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin when they first leave the Shire.
About the photography, of course you're right, but at the same time it's always nice when people who know what they're talking about like your work. Like if we were talking about building design, an architect or drafter would probably have a much more accurate and indepth [and valuable!] opinion than I would.

LOL you're absolutely right, she's essentially been my mentor and her opinion on my work means quite a bit to me... I love being able to apply what someone has 'taught' me and for it be effective and appreciated! Highly addictive, but also makes criticism harder to take ;-)
