If you miss the wildflowers in AZ, head north to AK....they won't even start blooming until May. :P
I don't know if I can make it this year as I do have another vacation scheduled in August, but I would love to see Alaska some time. You never know I may take you up on that offer some day. ;-)
I am in the process of moving, then a vacation, but after April I will have an extra room if anyone is interested in the Pacific Northwest (Portland area). There is a fee though... some good conversation and a few Photoshop tips. :-D
We spent 5 days driving around Alaska (August 2006). Thankfully we saw many signs and postcards while we were there, showing us the amazing beauty we might have seen if it hadn't poured with rain the entire time.
A couple of times the clouds and fog lifted the tiniest bit and we glimpsed what we think might have been some rather impressive mountains, but we can't be sure it wasn't just wishful thinking.
The pictures we saw sure looked good, though, and we would love to see it all some day for real.
If you get a chance, do take Linda up on her offer and pray for a few clear days while you're there.
Steve, don't miss Düsseldorf, if you come to Germany, it's only 200 km from Deb's place :)
Oliver, another kind offer, I've never been to Dusseldorf - only ever made it to Hamburg. If I find myself in Germany I now have two places to visit : )

August typically does get rainy. June and July are the best months. Tons of sunshine, and 20 hours of daylight. The temps are usually in the 70's with very low humidity. A real paradise. Of course, if you are wanting to see the northern lights (aurora) then you need to visit in the middle of winter when it gets dark.
