I wonder if there's anything that can be done to make posting thumbnails easier on people. See this thread. The explanation is long and painful, and I'm sure it's confusing to newcomers or those with modest computer/browser skills. Maybe a button near a thumb in a gallery or portfolio that copies the [thumb] tag to the clipboard, that you can just paste into a post.
Actually I think its easy.... what bothers me is that there is a tutorial in the tutorials that teaches you the full HTML coding way of doing it. Which IS hard for newcomers) That needs to be replaced with a tutorial on the button way. I mean all you do is open your image select the numbers in the url press control c and start a new thread there isn't much of a way to shorten that process.
Copy button would make it much easier. Some people have difficulty finding the browser's URL locator, let alone the image id number. Useability improvements and user-friendly enhancements like this are very much needed in my view.

I right-click on the thumb, then painstakingly highlight & copy just the image id # from the pop-up info box. It is a PITA.
You dont have to right click a thumb its right there at the top of your screen in the URL like see this threads number is 755629 see just copy that its easier. Other than that I'm not sure of a solution really.
maybe we should just put it at the top of the tutorials? Honestly what is the better solution? If they make a link button next to your pics to post the image in a new forum space that doesn't help anyone but the first post of the forum. However, if there are better ideas shout em out cause if nothing else this morning has seen a lot of confused posts about this subject

I guess I wasn't clear. I typically grab from a page full of thumbs, so the URL is the page URL. To get the image id # without going to the page of the full-size image, I right click on whichever thumb I want and grab the number from the properties box, which pops up. Then I have to close the porperties box, which is another additional step. :-)

Also see this thread. It really is tough for newcomers, even after they've understood how it works.
It's really NOT that difficult. Some people may stumble a time or two, but catch on pretty quick. Any feature of the site requires some use to learn it the first time around (edit 'Photographers Comments' on challenge entries, forum signatures, etc...).
However, I do agree that the tutorial could be updated. I didn't see anything in there for posting thumbnails for site images.

okay you should know how to control v honestly! however what if the thum button were set up to automatically drop whatever is in your clipboard inbetween the two thumb tags!! huh huh!!! I like it

How about a welcome section which always come up once you register until you tick a "Don't show me again" box? This could contain useful info, links to tutorials etc.
Could be placed on the left above the submitted images and the evil update.

Oh. That would be kinda sweet. I guess for people that want to put multiple thumbs in one post could copy/paste the code, then edit out the image id #?
I do like what GeneralE just mentioned. Write down the numbers to have them available, then I select the thumbnail icon, type in the number, hit enter. For the next thumb just hit the end key (to deselect the thumb code and move cursor to EOL) and enter (if I want a new line). Hit the left mouse button again (I didn't move the mouse during the above process) and repeat (end key, enter, left mouse, image id #, ...)
How about just having a browse type window pop up when you click the thumbnail icon for you to select one or more images. Click ok for the thumb tags etc to be automatically created for all the selected images.
