I was photographing a wedding on Saturday when one of the wedding party picked up my back-up camera. I just reached over & put it on P-mode and let him go.
Well, he shot me! Ugh.
I don't mind sharing this image that he shot: while I was shooting this one: ;
but the image of me walking backward and falling on my butt is staying HERE! :P
I have 1600 to sort through and have only touched a few so far, but here are some early favs....
Great stuff! I think I'd just have a heart attack if someone picked up my backup camera.
You know, it was funny. I didn't mind a bit once I saw he was holding it the right way (supporting the lens). lol
The same guy grabbed my main camera during the reception & got some awesome shots!
The wedding was a lot of fun. As you see we had NO sun, only a freaky thick fog that lasted all day. I was glad I brought my giant gold reflector for the beach shots. I convinced one of the ushers to hold it for me.
This was my first wedding withut an assistant & I'm pretty pleased that I was able to get everything I wanted to get by myself. :D
Sorry, I'm still keeping that one. I was lucky though, I landed on a hill some kid had built (conveniently beside the hole he dug). I didn't land in the hole. :D
By the way... this was a destination wedding. I drove 700 miles round trip for it. *whew*
Ya know.....I'd really like to find a local wedding photog that would comsider taking me on as a second camera.....I *LOVE* shots like this that aren't the main focus but are priceless in their own right.
Cindi, which diffuser are you using in the first photo? Which flash is that, too?
Its GF Whaletail on a 580ex; my 430ex has a GF Lightsphere (out of shot). (deja vu) :D
Huh...I guess I was under the impression that the Whaletail was meant to be ued with the flash pointing up (like the lightsphere). Do you get any flare with it pointed forward?

Its meant to be used a myraid of ways depending on the light effect you want, diffused direct, celing bounced, back wall bounce, etc.... The DVD that comes with it helps you get used to it 'cause it fits the flash sideways.
Okay, this was a moment after the fall. I was pretty embarassed, but just laughed then kept shooting (from my suddenly seated position). The feet behind me were on-lookers so I suppose I was about to back over them as well. I was walking backward while shooting the entire wedding party walking toward me.
:D Thanks so much for the sweet comments, guys. I've had a ball reading them, laughing out loud. Wish I could answer every one! I also wish I could describe this particular job to you in more detail, but I don't wanna write a novel. I know the B&G personally, they live nearby and we have common friends. I'll just say the event was surprisingly non-eventfull and I can't wait to finish the album (2-day event).

They're taken between the ceremony & the reception. In this case ceremony was a lovely Catholic church, reception was a highrise hotel on the beach. B&G schedule 1 hour (in this case, some schedule less) between their arrival at the location & their entrance into the reception, for pictures (during this time guest arrive, have appetizers & drinks). I chatted with bride for a few weeks planning right time for their pics. Then.... after dinner, but before first dance, I grab B&G alone and do shots of them only, no attendents.
I started the day with the bride at the hair salon; those pictures are part of the "getting ready" phase. I told the beauticians over and over "I need them beach-proof". Their hair was GLUED into place. :D
Bride's dress got a little mucked near the end of shooting because she got hit by a wave, but she changed dresses 1/2 hour into the reception anyway so it was no big deal.
