I really think this guardrail has some potential, especially when wet, and I wanted to know if you would've done something different?

Personally I like it, but have a feeling I could squeeze some more out of the scene somehow.

Helgi,

Personally, I'm attracted the wet tarmac and the contrast between this and the dark verge. I would get down low and shoot the road, making it the focus of attention. I've cropped a version to show what I mean (apologies for the horrible looking cloning of the sky - a 30 second job) but I think you'll get the idea

Hi Helgi

I played with this a bit - I like the curve of the rail and the curve of the road leading to the distance but also the large triangle of darkness between them. The sky had good potential too.



What I did:
I converted to gray scale, boosted the contrast, played with curves to make the sky dramatic while still keeping the guard rail bright. sharp filter. cropped in to focus the composition more. After I was odne I thought maybe I should have rotated it a bit clockwise?
What do you think?

Thanks for the suggestions - It does look good in B/W, and I agree about the road having some potential as well. I think moving the camera position a bit to the left while still getting everything in the frame would do it.

I think I'll go out hunting for some more wet guardrails
