hotpasta is a valued and loved member of this community. For those unaware, he had a harrowing experience and his camera was destroyed. Being a pastor, I am sure this is no simple thing to replace. That’s where we come in. I am hosting a modified single elimination tournament with proceeds going to Enzo to buy a new camera. If you know Enzo, you know it’s a worthy cause. If you don’t know Enzo, this is all you need to know:

I would like to have a 32 entrant bracket. Entry will be $25. I will collect the money via my PayPal account. 60% of the take will go to Enzo. 1st place will receive 25%. 2nd place will receive 15%. If there are 32 entrants, that will come out to $480 for Enzo, $200 for first place, and $120 for second place. This isn’t really about winning, but rather helping a DPC member in need.
If you are familiar with League of Death rules, please read below because these are slightly different.

The First (and hopefully only) Get Enzo a New Camera (as long as it’s a Canon) Tournament
The rules:
1. You DO NOT need to be a member to join.
2. The fee is $25. You may register by sending me a PM with an email address where I can send you a PayPal invoice. You will need a PayPal account to be able to participate.
2a. I am hoping to stop registration at 48 entrants.
2b. If you cannot afford to enter, please don’t! This is for charity and I do not want to become a bill collector.
2c. If you do not pay by the start of the tourney, you will be disqualified and flogged. (PLEASE pay promptly…for Enzo’s sake and my sanity)
3. Each week you may select one of the open challenges to participate in. The member challenge DOES NOT count in this tournament.
4. Initial brackets will not be seeded, but rather will be filled randomly.
5. Because the winner of a round is not known until the next week’s entry is due, you must enter each subsequent week assuming you are the winner.
6. The first week will hopefully be the open challenges announced on 2/6/2008 (not Advertisement III or The Eyes Have it!). If things are not put together by 2/6, then we will start the week after.
7. Ties, if any, will be broken by the lower photo ID #.
8. I have received official OK from Langdon to run this tourney. Remember, this is for FUN and to help a fellow member.

I'm so impressed by the spirit I see again and again on this site. I think I'll leave this side competition to you ribbon-winners! However, anyone bored with their participation of late might find renewal in this kind of purpose-driven exercise.
