They say they have to be professionally framed and matted and or matted and shrink wrapped.
How do you professionally frame and matte or matte a 16" x 24" poster?
Man I wish DPCprints had this option I could do it all in one step.
Also you have to send in a slide?
I did not think they were still using these :)
I have read this in the forum about making slides from digital photos, I need to research this again. About all I recall is members saying it was just a little expensive.
The final price is set by the photographer with 20% going to the wildlife fund.
From what I've seen, most art sales/festivals/fairs require a slide. I had started a forum thread about it because I want to enter some of these this summer.
As far as professionally matting and framing. You could take it to a framing shop and they'll do it. We make our own frames, buy the glass in sheets and cut it ourselves, I buy the mats precut and I buy the mounting board in sheets and cut it. Once it's all put together, the final step is attaching a dust cover to back of the frame and then the hanging hardware.

I guess my question is I can see framing a poster but I do not recall ever seeing one matted?

Calvus, answering part of your question, To get a slide made, make a JPEG file at 5 Mg or more, and put it on a zip disk or CD and find a photo processing lab in your city who will make a slide from it. In San Francisco, the lab I use charges $8 per slide.

If they are asking for a slide, I would imagine it would be of the print itself.
