Just curious, for the people who have actually calibrated their monitors, which white light temperature have you calibrated to ?
I was quite surprised to find how substantially different a correctly calibrated monitor looks for a 5000K and 6500K viewing temperature. 5000k calibration leads to a really muddy, dull and gloomy appearance to the correctly calibrated images, while the 6500K is more visibily brighter for the same luminance and correct colour balance.
Even though colour is a function of viewer, light and subject I was surprised how significantly different it would be when calibrated for the different light 'domains'
