Please Comment on my first attempt of clicking still life, glass.
I used a single studio strobes with black-silver umberella , background was pale white, Postion of light was direct over the top.
Please comment, i will appreciate technical criticism
P.S can anyone teach me me how insert thumbnail( i searched but could not find how to, and i guess this question has been asked earlier but i will be greatful)
to thumbnail you'll need to join the site and have images in your portfolio - though I'm sure you could find a more complicated way to do things as a non-payer :-)
The shot is entirely competent, depending on exactly what you wanted to achieve. Done very well to avoid reflections on the glass. Would like to see something with more texture to really make considered criticism - I think that bottle has little texture to it and the lighting might be too even for something more shaped. But it's entirely appropriate to the subject, however.
You can add thumbnails also as non-member via the following procedure
1. click on the Hyperlink symbol
2. Enter the link to the image/page when asked for
example //home.tu-clausthal.de/~pcja/gallery/Dies_Das/IMG_2450b
3. When asked for the text to the link type [img] then the link to the thumbnail-image and then [/img]

I used { instead of [ to not acctually show the image.
That's it. I do get the location of the thumbnails by right clicking on the thumbnail in MSExplorer and choosing properties. There you can select the URL to it and copy it into the clipboard.
As far as I can tell (never saw the bottle in real life) it is an accurate representation of reality. The image seems to be slightly tilted to the left, needs some rotation.
I assume the blur (e.g. on the label) is caused by the compression used.
No distrurbing reflections, a smooth non-distracting background.
I personally find the light rather flat, unappealing. But it does bring out the details very well.
It depends on what you want to express with such a shot whether it is a good one. The television commercial of this one emphasises that it is for men, not for boys. The bottle resembles a military style water bottle. The TV commercial puts it on a block of steel, in a blue steel light.
You could also put it into an environment which symbolises toughness, for example desert sand, with some rough leather around it.
Or a jungle.
It should be more than an accurate recording of the object, in my opinion.
Agree with Willem there, pic looks a little flat at the moment. The gradiation(?) of the backdrop is nice, with slightly more colour at the top, but needs something of interest at the bottom, to add a bit of imapct.
You can get a little better separation between subject and background by putting the light SLIGHTLY behind the bottle which will also get rid of the reflection of the strobe and umbrella.
It also appears you have a white reflector of some sort off the right side as evidenced by the highlight in the glass and the shadows at the bottom. Do it to the other side as well.
The bevel area on the cap will be a problem, period. You could try matt spray.
The highlights on either/both sides of the bottom ring of the cap are close to losing their definition. The above change in lighting will probable help that too.
Focus is soft, too. Might want to try manual focus and if that doesn't work, try stopping down a couple.
The background is nice. If you can't get separation through the above, increase the gradation.

It was my first try at table top photography where subject was highly refelective. I have no knowledge or experience with lighting.

there are chances that there has been Distortion as i was not using a tripod, i had to cover in built flash of my camera using my a white card in one hand and i tilted the camera slightly.
Well i always wanted to take a typical shot like this, just wanted to do.
