OK so just 2 days after getting back home from Texas, I'm now being sent to Dublin for a couple of days. I've decided to take a few extra days and hire a car to drive to the west coast somewhere.
I need some reference from all the Irish DPCers out there. Do I go to Galway or Kerry or Mayo ... please tell me and if poss give me some links to the 'best of' images.
Kerry. Killarney to be exact. And if you have a car you can carry on driving through after Killarney National Park and take in some of the mountain scenery on the Kerry/Cork border. (I'm in Kerry at the moment, as it happens!)
Just one thing though.... when are you coming over? - We're in the middle of rain, rain, rain right now. And it's going to stay that way until Sunday at the earliest.

eta: Kerry is a 3 or 4 hour drive from Dublin.
I'll be over to Dublin on the 22nd Jan, but driving over west sometime on the 24th of Jan. Plenty of time for the weather to change and to change again ;-)

The Connor Pass road is undoubtedly the most dramatic route to take, though it is not suitable for heavy vehicles or caravans. As it swings towards the south it rises at the side of a large valley formed by glaciers that came from a semi-circle of coums or corries in the surrounding mountains. From the top of the pass there are breathtaking views in fine weather of lowlands, mountains and sea.
High vantage points provide the best position from which to take in the sweep of the landscape, and most of the main roads on the peninsula cross mountains at passes. The road to Dingle via Anascaul does not rise as high as the Connor Pass, but it is high enough to provide magnificent views of the coast of Tralee and Brandon Bays, of the landscape on the southern side of the mountain range, and of the Iveragh Peninsula across Dingle Bay.

I would suggest the Cliffs of Moore, one of the coolest, awinspiring places I've ever been to and its close to the Ring of Kerry. On the way you can stop through Galway, which I thought was a great city with lots of life and and action where you could get some great street photography going on there. I also went to the Arin Islands and that was very low key with few tourist and you can only get there by ferry. Lots of ruins and stone walls there. Have fun and be prepared to just stop and a moments notice b/c you see something you need to photograph. I'm so jealous! Trevor~

My wife and I went and had no reservations and just came and went as we pleased. We never had a problem finding a place to stay as there are lots of Bed & Breakfast inns all over the place. We never stayed at a hotel with the exception to the Ashford Castle. I wouldn't worry to much about finding a place to stay, unless you are the "have to have a plan" type of person.
First off, Ireland is the best place on earth, and if I could move there I would... My wife is the only thing holding me back :)
Dingle is the most amazing place there. Oh so beautiful. We stayed in a great b&b with a wonderful family, for REALLY cheap, right on the water. I will definately get on here this evening and post that information for you. Im SO JEALOUS!
I can't wait to go back to Ireland. As said earlier, Dingle is absolutely fantastic. Make sure you drive the Connor Pass. It's quite narrow but the scenery is stunning. There is a great B&B at the end of the pass where it enters the town of Dingle. I think the name of it was Connor Pass B&B but I'm not completely sure. I remember the woman that ran the place was named Kerry. We also had a great time at the Dingle Pub.
We also went to the Arin Islands by ferry. We went to the smallest island of the three. Like TrevyTrev said, it was very low key but a great place to visit.
