This morning I got surprise on the balcony ,my camera was close to my hand but 300 mm lens was not so I snapped with my Sigma 135 mm.
Looks like small Eagle or large Falcon,it is about 20-30 lbs size, bigger than a Goose!!

Oooh ... sorry. Unless you ask something about your exposure or cropping or something, I'm afraid we'll have to move this to the Rant section ....

I think I've seen a Cooper's Hawk around here before, but flying only. I think they have longitudinal stripes on the undersides of their wings. I didn't know they were so big though. Very nice photo.

Cooper's Hawk with a broken beak...
You would likely be surprised that your bird weighs about 3 pounds :) The largest of the eagles weigh 5 pounds or less.. they are all large birds but they are all feathers and hollow bones. :)

well, there is a fair amount of muscle tissue in the mix too... giving them their bone breaking beak strength, and major wing thrust...

They grow to about 18" tall and the max weight on this particular hawk is probably about 2 pounds, but i'm not completely sure of that. The female is slightly larger than the male, as is the case with most birds.

I seem to recall that the heaviest raptor is the Andean Condor that can reach weights of 20 to 30 pounds. They don't get any bigger.

Me thinks its a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Cooper's have a longer tail and larger head. Definitely an adult of either of these two species. Van
