I just switched over from windows to mac. I am using a Macbook Pro and am trying to learn a new OS. Why is it when I view pictures on the Canon DPP software vs a picture viewer such as iPhoto, the pictures look all washed out. (low saturation and contrast) The pictures look fine everywhere else, on my pc, stockphotos, and any other picture viewer. Is there a setting I can config to make the pics look normal?
ok, after doing some research on the canon site i think the color space might be the problem. the pics i'm trying to view in dpp are pics that i transfered from my pc. so if my colorspace on my pc is set different than my macbook, would that cause this problem?
yeah, most of them have been through photoshop. so the color space should be set the same throught the life of the picture? from raw to jpg? i.e. sRGB?
For reference, the web is sRGB so if your pics look ok locally but less than ok when uploaded, that would be a clue that the working space (your computer) is not sRGB.
i dont think color space is the problem. i check my 40D, photoshop, and my pc. everything is set on sRGB. could it be DPP 3.1 doesn't work with Leopard? anyone else running DPP 3.1 on Leopard? does it work? because when i use my DPP on my pc, everything works fine. but on my mac the pictures look faded out (low contrast and saturation). my monitor has been calibrated also.
