The Great Swamp visit on 24th or 25th of November 2007. If anyone interested in please pm me. Daily tour and photography gathering, everyone drives there for a day, in-n-out. We now have about 4 people (including me);
This time I didn't have anyone but my two sons with me. It was very cold, so I don't feel bad not having any other DPCers, although next spring I might have a weekend gateway to Great Swamp. I will definitely follow up and see if anyone interested in that time.
Bird photos from The Raptor Trust. They are behind wires, but still very good opportunity to take photo of those great animals. Swamp itself is huge, covers three towns I think. There are other kinds of birds in the swamp during the summer and that's what I would like to catch. Not only birds, but swamp itself is very photogenic :)
There is a long wooden walk-board goes into heart of the swamp. There are bird watch overlooks and ponds that cast very nice reflections. Trees all around... and it's free :P
I like swamps, aka wetlands. I won't ask if that makes me weird. I was absolutely delighted to visit my favorite local wetlands park last week (also has a boardwalk through a swampy area) and there was water! It was bone dry much of the late summer and fall and the wildlife was scarce; this time there were flocks of geese and ducks and a variety of songbirds. Bodes well for catching some more migrating fowl throughout the winter.
I do have numerous relatives still in NJ I can bunk with; I'll keep an eye on this thread and if I have some time whenever you decide to go next I may join you.
I lived in New Jersey for a year, and by the looks of this, it's pretty close to where I lived in Short Hills. I've never heard of it, but it looks like such a cool place! I wish so badly that I still lived there so that I could join your get together! There are so many beautiful places to photograph in that part of the state. I loved my time in New Jersey.
