I'm working on a business name. I came up HeartLand(meaning Midwest) Imaging. My wife says it should be Heartland Photography. What's the difference between imaging and photography other than the spelling?
"Imaging" is what x-ray and MRI techs do, among other things. As Cindi points out, it sounds more medical than photographic. I suggest "HeartLand Photographics" if you want something different from "photography" in the name.

Ironically, on CNN they just had a reporter talking about an unmanned plane that is flying around taking shots of the fires in Southern CA. In his report, he said something about the plane "taking pictures," then he corrected himself and said, "well, it's taking IMAGES," explaining that the camera has abilities to detect hotspots of the fire, essentially seeing through the smoke to find those.
So there you have it. A "photograph" is a literal representation of a scene, and an "image" shows you the hot spots :)
