I truly do understand your concern. My work around, when I get the opportunity to vote at work, is to scan the thumbnails at home before I go and if there are no nudes, I know it is safe to vote. Or a quick scan before I start voting.
We have tried to make the site as safe for work as possible. Ultimately, though, I guess the responsibility to make sure that our work 'puters are "safe" and our kids don't see what we don't want them to, is ours (the users) to enforce.

Ditto to the comments penned here. The ultimate responsibility rests with the user, and it is incumbent upon each and every one of us to undertake whatever action we deem necessary.
Making certain images invisible by default during voting would hopelessly skew the voting tallies IMO.

Then so be it. Espceially in a non-nude-specific category. I can (and will) skip those anyway when shoved in my face, so why not do the right thing and enforce the flag all the time?
Actually, the right thing would be:
- Not to view things at work as they could get you into trouble;
- View the thumbnail and determine if you truly want to open the image;
- Pre-screen images that you might open in the company of minors.
Censorship is an option that you can impose on yourself and those in your immediate surroundings, but not one you should strive to visit on the masses, particularly when you consider what is and what is NOT allowed on DPC.

Yep. Same here. In addition, if there are any nude images I'll vote them at home so when I'm at work they'll be placed at the end of my queue (already voted images) and not come up while voting at work.
HawkeyeLonewolf I see your point, and I can understand. But this argument will be difficult to win because most of us arent suppose to be doing this at work anyway. And the people with kids have a choice to vote when the kids are not around. I do think it would be unfair for the people who choose to post nudes in the challenges to be flagged.

Flag are already there and supposed to be used. The only time they are ignored (and cause problems) is with voting.
I agree with Hawkeye, this is in no way a call to censor which is always the argument, it is merely common sense approach to offer the option to see them or not if you choose.
As for voting at work why does it always come up that you should not be voting at work, some people have access during breaks and lunch and if their work does not mind why should we care.
Another note while thinking about this...if a user has their preferences set to hide nudes, why not let those have the 'hidden adult content' (or whatever the exact verbiage is) thumbnails be put up in place?
I see a couple of logisitic problems to this however:
1) The photographer would need to have assigned the 'Nude' category to the image already (many times this gets applied after the challenge at the urging of SC for images not marked properly by the photographer).
2) How would fullsize images be handled in voting? Create another 'hidden adult content' placeholder for large images (non-thumb)?
Just kind of thinking out loud. Personally, I have a work-around (see earlier post), but it would be easier not to have to scan the thumbnails in advance at home.
I gotta agree Kevin. When I do vote, I typically only vote on 25% of the images anyway due to time constraints. So that's 75% that I'm ignoring anyway - what's another 2-3 images given my selected preference.
Above and beyond that, I can pick and choose the ones I want to vote on anyway. Doesn't my preference checkbox indicate that I'd not pick certain images?
If you flag nudes during voting, showing an icon instead of an image so that the viewer may opt to reveal the image or not, then those who don't "like" nudes will not vote on them, and those who "love" nudes will reveal them and vote on them. End result: artificially high score on nude images. Bad idea.
I'd rather have my kids behold the human form than having to indulge in pictures void of anything but glitz and false sentiments.
... or worse, replete with blood, gore and violence.
I remain fascinated by this aversion some people have towards nudity... as if it were some form of communicable disease.

1. You could get fired for simply viewing things that are not work associated, regardless of the fact that they may or may not contain nudity, so this point of contention is Moot.
2. That is a perception YOU have that may not be shared by all. If you do not want your children to view nudity, this responsibility rests solely with YOU and is not one which we as a collective have to assume.
