Hi wonder if anyone can shed some light on a problem.
I keep getting emails (about 20 per day for the last 2 weeks) saying "This email could not be delivered" only problem is that I have not sent them, the content is sometimes different but the email addresses it can't deliver to are all different all the time.
Does this mean someone is spamming with my email address?
I would say to at least check if your virus scanner is up to date, and then scan your system.
Then, download ad-aware, intall and run. It will find and give you the option to eliminate spyware.
That's one of the variants of "My Doom" virus. Be careful not to open them. If you already have, try to get an update for your antivirus and check your computer for viruses.
Looks like someone is using your email address to send out spam, its happened to me and I now get a couple of hundred non delivery messages a day. There is no virus or trojan or anything nasty on my pc. Its one reason why I have made my email address on my profile here not avaiable. I would be well annoyed if I had a dial up modem connection, it would take ages to get mail.
There's a fairly current email virus which has the characteristics you're describing. Although they vary, you'll find "test", "hi", "hello", "Mail Delivery System", "Mail Transaction Failed", "Server Report", "Status", or "Error" as the subject line. I've been getting these types of things since the first day the MyDoom or Novarg virus hit. I still don't have the virus on my system, though, as I have not opened any attachments. I have checked it several times, though. Here is one of the messages I've sent to family and friends since I know my email address was grabbed from a friends address book and has been shipped all around the globe!

Just wanted you to be aware - I got my first notice from Norton Antivirus tonight that I have the virus on my system (I do not). Because the initial sender to me had it on her system, the virus appropriated everyone in her address book (including me) sending the virus to them as though it had originated with me. At any rate, it caused me to do a doubletake for a minute 'til I had checked my system again to insure that I have not contracted the virus. A quick search on "yahoo" for "false novarg warning" took me to a Lancaster University site where they were warning their staff about this very thing happening. Just didn't want anyone to panic! If you haven't gotten any of the initial emails with virus attachments, then most likely you won't get the antivirus warning, but if you have, just be aware. There is a way to check your system in case you want to be sure it hasn't infected you:
Go to Start, choose "run", type "regedit" and go okay. Then click on each of these directories to open them:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
After you've opened the "current version" directory, look in the window on the right for this file:
Run "TaskMon" = %SysDir%\taskmon.exe
If it doesn't exist, you don't have the virus.
Do not make any changes to anything here, though, as it could create other problems for you - but lookin' don't hurt!
As long as you don't open the attachments on an unprotected system you should be o.k.
The people that open the attachment on an unprotected system start sending mails like the ones you receive. Then you need the tools to kill the virus and install a protection.
There was a worm a while back called klez, or klez32, that could produce the same symtoms you described. You could get the returned e-mails if someone else's computer had your e-mail address in their address book and their computer became infected.
I have run McAfee, updated the DAT files of McAfee and scanned again, run the Stinger and run a DOS scan - all have come up clean. However, I get 200+ emails a day from the mydoom worm. Still waiting for a way to stop getting them.
Like someone else said here, and like I have been told.. Norton Antivirus is really the best. I used to have McAffee on my old system, but have Norton on my new one. It is great! Never a problem, and runs as specified.
Cheer up! The mydoom virus is due to expire on 2/12 - so at that point it will no longer send out messages with attachments. If you do have it on your system, you need to get it off, though. It has a nasty habbit of picking up passwords, cc #'s and sensitive information that could come back to bite you in the butt!
You might try AVG anti-virus also. It finds infected files that Norton missed on my computer. I think there is a free trial version of it. The computer shop installed mine when I had the RAM upgraded.

Mcafee said I am clean, don't belive that so running the Norton Stinger.
Like said - its probably not you who has the virus - the return addresses are spoofed so the only people who don't get the rejected emails are the infected accounts...
Its worth running the symantec checker too and having a good, up to date virus solution, but I doubt from the symptoms you mention that you are infected at all.
If there aren't files attached, it is possible that someone is spamming with your address. That's been happening with my Yahoo address for ages...I can tell when a recent batch has been sent because I'll log in and have 200 returned emails. It's basically just a junk account address that I use for signing up for stuff so I'm sure someone just picked it up somewhere.
I get those, and I have ran checks on them, looks like they have to do with the virus like everyone else said. My only problem is sinceI got the first email, I have been getting 50 emails a day from places that want to give me a mortgage, cheap medicine or a larger penis.... thank you, but I am fine on all 3! LoL
