In terms of digital, I prefer the Sony F717. I pretty well never use the Powershot or the Mavica anymore - though I do sometimes - the Mavica has stunning zoom capabilities (16X Digital - which is pretty clean).
I don't like the Canon 10D for some reason although I love my Canon EOS3 and use it frequently - probably as frequently as digital. I don't know why I don't like it - perhaps I am just used to the Sony. I'll probably decide to use it more in the summer when it's not 50 below zero.
For the sort of work that I do - once you're past the 3 megapixel threshold, it's somewhat moot and I really love the Sony - it just "works" for me. That all said, I also drive the same car I bought 17 years ago ... so ...

THere's nothing wrong with old and comfy things as long as you don't let them stick you in a rut. I'm sure most people went *GASP* when they read you prefer the F717 over the Canon 10D, for our sanity...please! please! Give it a change *puppy dog pout* mmkay?
I really like your picture, better than much of the others in my opinion. I know all about the 1 hour difference as well. My last photo I submitted was pretty bad, but the monitor I saw it on wasn't set right I guess. So I couldn't really see all the problem areas. And I of course noticed this around 11:00 my time and decided to submit another photo. But 11:00 my time is 12:00 DPC time. Oh well, live to fight another challenge!
I took a shot at the shadow challenge as well, but didn't really feel inclined to submit it.
