So I have just purchased one AB800, and I am loving it do death. (So much you can do with it). However, I would love to try and use a hairlight, or background light. I was thinking that it would be cool to use my 580EX flash for that. Now the question lies in firing both.... I have a radio remote for the ABs, but it does not work on the canon flash (which does not have a PC sync). I do have a radio trigger and receiver for it, but its a different frequency than the AB one. Anybody have any solutions? Anybody tried this before?

optical slave. hot-shoe to PC adapter. I've used both to trigger the flash with no PC connection. I made a 50 foot cable that has a household connector (looks like 2 prong US power outlet), then a household to PC adapter. this also allows me to use it for my Nikon SB-24 (cheap extra flash that does have PC connection).

Trigger the 580 with the radio slave you have that works with it and turn on the AB's optical slave cell.

A try to keep a couple hot shoe slave adapters in my bag (one for each flash). You can find them for less than the one I posted, but they are very handy.

You can use a ST-E2 to fire the 580EX and setr the AB to slave. It will work. But you may have to turn off TTL on the flash.
