Mine is bombing, big time, and I'm quite sure no one is going to tell me why. :-)
Here's my challenge - take the first 100 (yes, 100 - that's 20% of the challenge) of the thumbnails you get served up and comment on all of 'em. If at least 10 of us do this, everyone should get at least one comment if the serving is truly random. Any takers?
Done 20 - thats tough - I must say I didn't cheat once and took the ones that came to me, but I do find it VERY hard to say things to images that don't thrill me.
If you have thick skin, go ahead and say that the image doesn't do anything for you - be it the subject matter, composition, whatever. I think it's a fair way for people to understand the scores they are getting. Yes, there will be those who will be upset - they'll get over it and as long as you're honest, you're fine. But hopefully the majority will learn something from the adventure. My best advice is to find something positive about the picture (good light, nice comp, etc) then offer something about how you feel about the picture in general, and possibly ways to improve it or a different approach for the next time. And thanks to all those who are willing to give it a shot!
I didnt see this thread until after i did my initial vote through. Havent done any commenting yet but I will see what I can do and spread the wealth through all my scores. I guess I will just do a comment for each number and keep on cycling through.
I had just decided to, and done, this exact thing in Soft Focus.
I didn't vote all of them, but I commented on every one I voted. I did pass on voting/commenting on a couple that I couldn't find anything nice to say, but by and large, I had no problem commenting.

I am in, mine is also doing much worse than I had thought, and I still have no comments. I will try to do as many as possible, hopefully even more than 20%. Thanks for a great challenge Melethia.
I am trying as well but I have spent all morning voting and commenting and thought I would have commented on many more than I have but when I looked I am only sitting at 10% commented on. Well back to it!

Excellent! But the thing is to try to comment on them as they come up, not just the ones you feel like commenting on. Otherwise it won't be truly random. We all know the really good ones will get lots of comments. The ones in the middle and in the lower third are the ones that usually get neglected. By taking them as they come, at least in pretty large batches, you'll hit a little of everything.
I am not cherry picking in any of the vote numbers. I figure if I just start at the beginning of the vote count then I will be hitting them pretty much int he order that they came up - at least as close as I can get now. Did a whole bunch of 5s. Up to 62 now.
