Well, my mind is a bit confused about scoring some works in the competicions.

It seems to me that some photos have few or nothing to do with the challenge issue/motive, aside of the title of course. Is it just me or does it leaves you with the same impression?

And if so, whow do you rank it? When I'm voting I usually give a better score to a good picture that represents the challenge's motive, than a great shot that has got a farfetch (is this the correct word? - my english...) title to be included in the challenge.

Whow do you deal with it?

I find it difficult to put a rating on how well a photo meets the challenge. I just try to keep it simple. They either 'do' or they 'don't' and I leave it at that. When I see one that doesn't I try to look really hard for a tie-in. Usually when I can't find it, the title tells me :)

There is a wealth of forum threads on this topic... dating back to the inception of dpchallenge.com.

Do a search for "vote", "voting", "meeting the challenge" or other such keywords on the forum list page.

I think everyone here has posted their opinions in any number of those.

so many dper's are very literal with their photos. I have a tendency to be very underlying...but I always make sure the challenge topic is always met. I have been getting some comments on my zodiac photo stating that "not sure how your photo ties in..." but MANY more saying "like it...thought provoking" So my point would be that you cannot please everyone's criteria ideas BUT I would like to challenge the literal to think figuratively/artistically.

If I can't find an immediate reference to the challenge in the picture, I have started putting comments like; "Sorry, but I do not see how this picture ties into the challeng. Maybe you can send me a PM and exaplain it to me and I will revote on it." This allows the person a chance to give their idea. And so far, most of the ones I have done this with have provided valuable info for me to reconsider and give a more deserving vote.

Shouldn't the picture tell you how it ties to the challenge not thier words.

This is why I think that you shouldn't be able to see the idenity of the person who comments tell after the challenge.
