I had brought up this suggestion some time ago, but would like to lobby for it once again. I think it would be a FUN OPTION to have available in the current 'commenting' system.
In the example below, you (the person receiving the comments) would be able to submit a 'one time' response to the question, comment, or critique (not seen until challenge is over) - PRESERVING ANONYMITY DURING CHALLENGE. After the challenge the comment and/or voluntary response would become visible (in an orderly fashion) to anyone who decides to review (and possibly learn from).
I think if we knew that our questions/comments MIGHT have possible responses, we would be more inclined to revisit those photos we had earlier questioned.
This is a CRUDE EXAMPLE of how I envisioned it:

I actually like this suggestion. For the PWL challenge, I had a few comments to do this or that.... But I would like to tell them why I DID NOT do that.... I think it may help people understand more and vote more fairly. :)
How about allowing this kind of thing only keeping the identity of at least the challenge photographer anonymous until after the challenge? I think that would be even better.

Cool idea & great example. I think would further preserve anonimity as it is destroyed when PM-ing a person who has commented on your pic.

At first(due to lack of reading) I thought you ment to do this durring the challenge, but (after reading) I really like the Idea.
As for PM'ing users who comment during a challenge maybe they should keep the user who comments private tell after the challenge as well that way we are leting the pictures tell the story.
I really like this idea but would also hope that you wouldn't be limited to submitting a response during the challenge. I would hope you could go back anytime, even after the challenge had ended, and respond to feedback.
I would also hope that we would also be able to use such a feature for photos submitted into the portfolios as well. It would just be nice to be able to respond to a comment regardless of where it was left or when.
I would also think it would be nice to edit a response if necessary. Same as you can do in the forums or comments if you want.
