I'm sorry but that whole story I just read, does not speak in the shot. That is why I gave it a 5. It IS a very special shot, but not suitable for the challenge you entered it in.
I appreciate the feedback. I think part of the reason for my post was to point out it was quite obvious those who gave it 2s and 3s (and there were more than a few) didn't offer any particular reason for those scores by way of a comment. I will also add that "impressionism" isn't something I've studied extensively. Or at all if truth be told. So I figured it a) probably didn't fit the challenge for most (and am not at all offended by a DNMC comment) and b) simply didn't appeal to many.
It may also be that people are simple more likely to comment on photos they like.
I've left a few DNMC comments this week, but generally speaking, I avoid leaving them. I figure the recipient will hear it from others and won't appreciate hearing it over and over again. The photographer either already knows it doesn't meet the challenge, or will disagree with that assessment.
