Okay...I will have one night to photograph something on my trip to San Francisco for a work related trip. If anyone knows a fun location to photograph at night in the city, would you please let me know?
Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill is a good vantage point for downtown S.F. (Transamerica Building, etc.). FYI, that link is just a link I found on the web, it is not one of my photos.
Also, take a twilight sight-seeing cruise in the bay for some impressive photos of the skylight from water level.
Finally, for a great vantage point of Lombard Street (the crookedest street in America) go down to Leavenworth Street and shoot looking up at Lombard Street.
By the way, Lombard Street (going east) leads you right to Coit Tower.
Do you want skylines/cityscapes, or "local color?" For the latter, I think I'd suggest Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, or the Castro District.
This is cool, we've stood in approximately the same place and have damn near the same photo...

You can't go wrong in SF really; that town has amazing subject(s) everywhere. The GG is, by far, one of my most favorite places to shoot along with the Oakland Bridge (be careful around there at night) or down by the wharf, you'll have a hard time getting a bad shot.

Well, I'm staying in the St. Francis...I hope that's close to something interesting? I tend to be a "____scape" photographer so anything along those lines would be helpful. Thanks so much!

I love fog...(especially in purple...hehe)...hopefully the bridges will have some good fog for my one night out and then I'll have a photo as STUNNING as one of these below!!!
I usually stay at the St. Francis or the Renaissance. From the St. Francis, hop on the Powell Street cable car (it stops in front of the hotel). When it gets to the top of Nob Hill and starts to descend, have your camera ready to take some shots of Alcatraz with the steep hill and Powell Street in the foreground. You'll probably want to get off the cable car to shoot this, preferably with a tripod.
Also, depending on which tower and how high your room is located, you may have some panoramic views of the city.
I believe the St. Francis is near Union Square, the tony shopping hub ... I think it also has glass-walled exterior elevators which go 20-30 stories up the outside of the building -- if the glass is at all clean you should get some great views from there. If that's not the one then it's a nearby hotel ...
If you go down to the Embarcadero at the end of Market Street, the Hyatt Regency has some similar glass elevators, but inside a huge, hollow lobby area.

The Hyatt also has a hugh revolving restaurant/bar at the top of the building. This gives somewhat of a panoramic view. I say "somewhat" because some of the skyline is obscured by some tall buildings in close proximity to the revolving restaurant.
Yeah, for some I reason at night I see purple clouds. :P
Baker beach is nice but would need a vehicle I think.

I'll be in the city this weekend. I'm hoping the project will finish up early to allow me some time to photograph.I don't know if I can schedule something because I don't know when we'll be done.
