We took the above picture at one of our portrait sessions, already did a bit of basic editing on it. The parents enter their daughter in beauty pageants and they request things that we are not used to providing. For this picture they are asking to make her lips shinny, like she has on lip-gloss. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can do this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Not crazy about glammed-up little girls, so I tried to keep it low key. Someone else with more skills can probably do much better.
You might think about cloning out her stray hairs; other than that, I think it's an adorable shot.

Thank you Rox... we are not a huge fan of it either, but we are testing out this segment to see if it will be worth our time. From what I hear, there is a good amount of money in it. But we are having a hard time dealing with the glam and pressure they are putting on the children. We will see, thanks again.
I wanted to add that the photo has a slight magenta cast, so you might consider correcting that to get truer skin tones. Good luck with this photo, Trevor!
Not much work into it.
1)Duplicated image added 4 pixel gaussian blur, fully masked out effect on eyes, 50% on mouth and end of nose. Faded the layer to 58%. I'd use a stronger pixel blur on the larger image.
2) Created an black and white gradient map adjustment layer and put in luminosity mode.
3)Went below that and created a selective color adjustment mode and in the reds color palette, I took magenta to -18. Crop.
Thats it.
i would suggest uploading a larger unedited file size, yours is only 64 kb, it gets hard to do anything else to it or it gets lots of artifacts. :)

First step was to go Image, Adjustments, Match Color, Click Neutralize.
In a new layer, selected the lips, bumped contrast & brightness. Flattened.
New layer and selected her Irises, brought the details out with shadow/highlight tool, history brushed back in the catchlights.
Cleaned up some stray hairs, then applied a soft filter and then resharpened using a strong USM action:

USM 18-40-0
USM 150-.3-0
Edit>Fade USM 100% in Darken Mode
USM 150-.3-0
Edit>Fade USM 50% in Lighten Mode
Flatten image

My steps:
1.Duplicate layer- lots and lots of dodge and burn at different opacitites (to create shine and shadows)
2.Duplicate layer-apply gaussian blur, reduce opacity to 10-20& and erase areas you want sharp(eyes, mouth, jewelry)
3.Flatten Image- apply a little brightness contrast.
4.Crop
Actually i really don't use HDR. I use some high pass sharpening, and a lot of dodge and burning. I like the effect this gives on a lot of the photos i take. It's not for everyone though ;-)
