My new job as a kids portrait photographer involves frequent travel around rural Western Australia. In small country towns the best place to go for a meal, usually, is the local pub. On my recent trip I was asked several times what I do. It was strangely satisfying to say that I am a photographer. Even a kids portrait photographer. Kinda makes me feel like I've made it, even a little bit.
Thanks! I love it so far, gets me out to some nice places, unfortunately I had the misfortune to be at my farthest point from home this week when I came down with some gastro bug. Took me about 5 hours to get home in what would normally be a 3-3.5 hour drive. I was totally shattered. On the mend now though.
I felt the same way when I did my first paid gig (wedding). I was meeting with the bride to do some test shots and go over particulars when her fiance called and she said, "Let me call you back, I'm here with the photographer." Sounded weird but I liked it! :-)
