I recentry entered the world of digital photo. I adquired a Finepix S5000 and I'm very fond of it. I'm simply in love with it! Excelent image quality and an excelent 10x zoom lense.

But I love nature photography, and for some shots like in bird watching sometimes even with the 10x zoom you can't get close enough (at least withought putting them on the run. So I was wondering... The 1.5 teleconversion lenses that Fuji has might help a bit. Whould make it a 15x zoom...

And the image quality? Would I lost any? I read somewhere that adding lenses wold result in lost of some qualaty. true or false?

Is it worth spending the money on the tele lens (witch is 1/3 of the price of the S5000) in a camera with 3.1 megapixels?

Anyone can bright up my ideas?

hey man, congrats on your purchase. fuji makes some sweet cams :)

a 1.5x teleconverter from fuji is probably a good idea. i have a 2.0x that my gf got me from ebay. it's effect seems to be less than 2.0x, it seems to work more like in the 1.5-1.6 range. there is a little loss in image quality, but this thing i have doesn't look like it's made to the tightest specifications, if you know what i mean. it works well for getting those long shots, but there is some image distortion around the edges etc... i haven't ever used the one made by fuji, but i would be willing to bet that it'll be a higher quality than the ebay thing i have.

I`ve thought about this myself for the very same reasons (bird photography) and from what I`ve read, it should convert (in your case)to 15 x with little or no loss of image quality.
I am getting dragged out to do some shopping tomorrow and hope to squeeze a visit in to a photographic retailers and get the facts on the attachments for my camera.
