I think this would be a good idea and wanted to see what other think. Two Exclusive Open challenge and Two Members challenges where submission and voting only takes one week instead of two.
Example: -Blue lines are members challenge in submission stage.
-Grey lines are Open challenges in submission stage.
-Orange lines are voting periods.
Two Members challenges and Two Exclusive Open challenges completed (submission and voting in one week).
1. Members challenge 1 would begin Sunday-Midnight and you would have four days to submit your entry.
3. Voting for this members challenge would begin Thursday-midnight and you would have three days to vote, ending Sunday-midnight.
4. Results would be posted.

The Two Exclusive open challenges would work the same as above except you can only enter one of them, the way it done currently.
What is the point of this suggestion 1. Challenges from start to finish would only take one week instead of two.
2. Less submission time would reduce the number of entries per challenge.
3. By having less submissions per challenge we would not need a seven days to vote.
4. Less time waiting on challenge results.
5. The setup will accommodate users that can shoot on the weekend or weekdays
6. On Wednesdays while waiting for your submission to go into the voting stage you already know what the next challenge is going to be. This would give you a day to come up with ideas for the new challenge.
7. If you are going to have to miss a challenge due to any reason you don't have to wait a week to find out what the next challenge is going to be and two weeks to find out the score.
8. More challenges in a year.
If you rearranged it so submission periods would always include weekend (lot of people can probably only find time on the weekends to shoot), I would be all for it.
I don't think this will work. Sometimes it takes longer to get set up or even come up with the idea for challenges. I think you will degrade the quality of photos in challenges because everything now becomes rushed. At least having a week submitting gives everyone a chance to get a decent shot.

This will only make it one challenge for weekend shooters and one challenge for weekday shooters, as you can't enter both unless you shot on Thursdays. Now you are missing out on one side of the competition. And you are getting less out of it than you do now. If you shoot on fridays you don't have a choice of which member challenge or which open challenge to enter. If you want to enter, you only have those challenges. So you aren't getting more challenges to choose from you are actually getting one less (you don't have the second open challenge choice anymore).
Lastly decreasing the voting period only means less votes per challenge. You won't get an accurate account of the norm. Most people vote when they find time to vote, now you are just decreasing the amount of time they can find to do it. You'll also decrease the amount of comments on photos. Alot of people vote first and then go back and comment. Now they'll just have time to vote and not comment....which defeats the purpose of the site, which is to learn. Less comments, less learning..and it just becomes a competition for score with no one improving.
Honestly, what is the rush? I can see why you would want to be able to enter more challenges per given time, but think about the people who have to work everyday. I barely have enough time to enter the challenges that are week long and you expect me to able to keep up with this pace?
Yeah, I see why you'd suggest it, but no, I'd vote against it.
As others have said, I like it the way it is.
For one thing, you might get fewer submissions per challenge, but you might also just the same number of lower quality submissions.
And anyway, isn't having fewer submissions per challenge of value only if you think you should vote 100% of entries. I think that's a worthy goal, but not all that important. Or am I missing another argument for fewer entries?

Honestly, what is the rush? I can see why you would want to be able to enter more challenges per given time, but think about the people who have to work everyday. I barely have enough time to enter the challenges that are week long and you expect me to able to keep up with this pace?

I have enough trouble completing a challenge entry in a full week (hence the fact that I haven't entered many), I'd never get anything in if the entry period was only half a week.
