The 23rd Annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally, in Binghamton, NY. Is anyone else going to be there? It's this weekend, Aug 3-Aug 5. Everything looks like it kicks off the afternoon of the 3rd, with a bunch of entertainment and events. I'm mostly interested in the Friday evening hot air balloon launch and then the evening light-up, which I remember being amazing. I'm sure I'll be back Saturday morning for the early morning launch, too.
My family is from Binghamton, and I go to university there, and this is still only the second time I've made it down. The last time was years ago. But from what I remember, it ought to be a lot of fun, with some great shot opportunities. And of course there'll be Spiedies...lots and lots of Spiedies :-)

Uh-oh...I didn't see the "no backpacks" part, although I was wondering about it. I'll have to take another look now, thanks!
Well, the weather was partially with me, and I managed to make it to the Car Show on Saturday and the morning balloon launch on Sunday. Didn't have any trouble at all bringing my photo backpack - heck, Sunday morning they weren't even checking for tickets! It was foggy as all get-up, being there by the river, but I got a few shots that I liked and just wanted to share them.

The first is a 429 Boss Mustang, which is the ultimate Mustang. The second is hoods-up on a row of 'Vettes. I'm a Mustang guy, all the way; I only shot the 'Vettes for my brother.
I thought that a DPC group made it last year, and was surprised when I was the only one this time around. Anyone nearby ought to try and come next year, it's really a lot of fun, in sorta' a small-townish way.
Damn, I missed Spiedie Fest again! I used to go occasionally, but the last time was, well, pushing ten years ago. Thanks for sharing the shots, wish I could have been there!
