This would be perfect for photography collaboration, especially with the DPL here on this site. You can create your own specialized 'social network' that is either open to the public or by invitation only. I think it's really worth checking out...

DPL Teams can create a site here where only team members can participate. You can create message boards and have photo sharing.
This is a lot different than myspace or facebook. It's more like Yahoo, MSN, or Google groups, but it's more advanced and dynamic... and a lot more configurable.

ah! so you just mean for the private group/sharing stuff, not the entire DPL. I was slightly confused.
Yeah, that might work, and would let people comment without others seeing what they commented on. It was kind of frustrating having to keep all the comments in the single thread.

As I look deeper into this, you can create multi-level discussion boards, similar to what we have here on DPC. You can create various subject-oriented forums... nice stuff :)
