I took these two photos recently. Here are the fully edited versions.
Personally, i am happy with them, because they are an improvement, but they still just don't quite do it for me, i want them to be even better!
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to improve them.
It is an improvement. And as you know, the only way to get better is to keep learning and practicing.
FWIW, for these shots, I think your key/fill ratio is just a bit too high for the look you are going for... or maybe it was too low. It's just somewhere in not quite right land.
i'm no pro in lighting, heck, I don't own any lights, but I think you need a reflector on left side (model's left side) to lighten up a bit that part 'cause it looks odd to me. otherwise, very beautiful portraits...and model!
So what is it that you don't like about them, or do they feel they are just missing something?
The lighting looks fine to me if you are going for more of a fashion look (a little deeper shadows than a traditional portrait).
I would say these are solid images. If you want to crank them up a bit I think you'll have to 1) try to bring in more expression to draw the viewer in 2)utilize a less conventional composition. These are just thoughts because there are no text book approaches that will take you beyond what you have already achieved here.

yea i just feel like it is missing something, and i know they could be improved a lot. I had to do a lot of editing, because of my lighting. I just want to get it right from the get go, with minimal editing.
