I prefer the lighter softer greys on the second one, but overall prefer the first.
I haven't softenned the first yet, was intersted to see what other peoples thoughts were?

I like the composition of the first better, but do like the lighter greys of the 2nd. Seems to be a better contrast with the colored piece.
