I'll second that, I was up there friday night and it was beautiful. Got a little chilly once the sun went down though.
You can also get some excellent skyline shots (though minus Rainier) from down on Alki (in West Seattle) and from the Ferry (the one that goes to Winslow, Bainbridge Island).
Many thanks for posting that! We're heading up that way in a couple weeks, and I was JUST mentioning to my wife earlier tonight that I was hoping to find this vantage point to see the city!

It's supposed to be AWESOME weather this week (Monday is the exception), so you should get some great shots!
Lake Washington or is it Lake Union has the cool floating houses on it! They are so beautiful and very colorful. You can see Rainer from those lakes on a clear day. Clear is the key word here, as the volcano is 90% of the time obscured by the ever present clouds or simply from it's own weather system such as low clouds or foggy-looking.
If you're downtown go to Pike's Market near the wharf or you can take fabulous shots from that little entertainment center that has carnival rides near the needle. I've taken the best shots from that place. Let me see if I can find them. Go there at dusk or at dark when the rides are lit up and the space needle is in the background!

Thanks all for the help. Unfortunetly, I was visiting a friend, and even though she's a photographer, she's more a "2 minute photographer" I didn't have nearly enough time to do what I needed to, and wasnt even there at the time I wanted to be. This is what happens when you are at someone elses mercy. I plan to return in the fall however, and just go on my own.
