Looked around for an appropriate existing thread, but couldn't find one.
With somewhere between 360 and 504 individuals involved in teams on DPL there is a very real chance that this will alter the dynamics of both submitting and voting. It is the potential for the voting dynamics to change that interests me. My starting point is the bold assumption that this pool of people represents the majority of people actively involved in the site, and therefore those responsible for the vast majority of the votes cast, and the same pool of people will be responsible for the majority of the submisisons entered. Therefore a very real incentive exists for people to vote those outside their team slightly lower than usual.
Now of course we are all reasonable, even and fair people; and none of us would ever consider such behaviour. And anyway, average votes cast do vary from challenge to challenge. Nonetheless - is there going to be any attempt to track if a statistically significant change in average vote cast occurs during DPL challenges?
A case: Some of the most recognisable photographers (based on their photography)on this site are all in The Ribbon Hogs. The extent to which they have talked themselves up does create an incentive to vote them just that little bit lower. Will this happen?
There was just a thread recently about many people getting warned or suspended due to voting habits so the safe guards are there. Now that the league has been merged into DPC I'm sure it will be even easier for the admins to notice foul play. I wouldn't worry about it.
Therefore a very real incentive exists for people to vote those outside their team slightly lower than usual.
I'm prepared for that - that's why I bought the Troll costume.

I think they've cheated all along, so nothing will change there.
...I am just kidding here. It's a valid concern for those who are concerned. Not sure what could be done, but would be interesting to track, if not just to prove you wrong.
I don’t support the theory that the DPL will cause people or teams to vote lower on other photographs since they know it’s not one of their teammates photograph. This logic can be applied to any DPChallenge in any contest. Since you know all pictures are not yours you could do the same in theory and vote them down. As you can see it can be done and probably have been since the inception of the site. The DPL is not going to change this fact in any way. If anything votes will be monitored more closely than ever before because of the DPL, that will make people think twice about vote fraud, if not they are crazy and will get caught.

i) there are now 6 other voters doing the same to the rest of the photos (excluding yours, and the other 5 members')
ii) this involves more than 1 team

What I'm saying is that the DPL is just like any other challenge. I don't think it will cause anyone to low vote just because they know what pictures are not from their team. I was making a comparison that when an individual participates in any challenge s/he knows all other picture are not his or hers. So it could be done there as well.
I have NO knowledge of anyone voting down a photograph to make there score better, if I did I would report them. When I said it "probably have been since the inception of the site", that statement was based on the thousand of threads that has debated this issue in the past.
PaulE, I had the same passing thought myself (about the general voting patterns, not about any particular team). I guess we'll see soon enough if there is a noticeable lowering of average votes.
