As an alternative to placing a filter over the lens, which can degrade the image. You can buy gel filters to place over the light and correct the color there. The advantage to this approach is that it lets you use multiple light sources of different types without the light from one source being color shifted. In your example, had the source been corrected to approximate daylight, you could have used the flash unit on your camera as a fill light and it would not appear dramatically blue. You don't have to worry about scratches on them either.
Usually they are pretty cheap, maybe $20 for a color correction set.
