I've shot some in cold weather, but Dallas hasn't really been below 25 degrees yet, but the cold does shorten my battery, so much I bought a BG-E1 two battery pack which will be here Wednesday along with a new lens and lens shade.
Wow, these things are gold!! Sure beats a PC cord. With they had thought of them 20 years ago, life would have been sooo easy!!
Did you get the RC-1 which allows you to have either immediate shutter release or 2 second delay? That's the one I got and I like it that you can have the choice to wait the 2 second or trip the shutter immediately when the remote button is pushed.
The remotes are great! I had one for my G2 and got lots of use out of it.
Yes, the one I have has a 2 second delay, which I used tonight for some self Christmas photos for our cards. I love it!! Can't wait for some long exposier shots.
tfaust, yes, its a small, half inch wide and maybe two inches long romote that uses the ifrared sensor on the camera. I paid 26 bucks at Wolf here in Dallas for it. Wonderful toy!!!
I've never used a remote, and I see that the description says it works with bulb shots, so would I press the shutter release on the remote and hold it down for as long as I wanted the shutter open for?

If you are using the wired remote that is correct.
If you are using the wireless remotes the exposure will start when you push the remote button the first time and the exposure would stop when you push the remote button the second time.
