A brief explanation of the new artwork rule as I understand it:
If everyone KNOWS it's artwork (an obvious painting, sculpture or illustration), then it's legal... although the voters will probably pummel it. If the artwork appears to be photorealistic and essentially IS the subject of your photo (a picture of a monitor screen or print, with or without trivial added elements), then it's illegal. You can include photo-realistic artwork as part of a greater composition, but you should try to make sure it's used in a "supporting role" along with other important elements. |
