That's good, because I made an attempt to do the portrait challenge, and failed miserably after the first week or so. So, I guess I will go for it again this time. I find that these are very effective at teaching or improving upon a single, specific skill.
DAY 1 ... I WANT TO IMPROVE SO PLEASE TELL ME WOT YOU FIND DOESNT WORK FOR YOU IN ANY OF MY PHOTOGRAPHS .... THE OCCASIONAL NICE COMMENT WONT GO ASTRAY EITHER!! .. if this was in a b&w challenge i'd'v given it a 5 and i'm a high voter!! ..:)
Capt's log...Day 1, B&W Challenge...first image is in, not completely happy with it, could have had better lighting but we have yet another cloudy day...
Just wanted to say it's just after 8am here in Australia on Day 1 on the Challenge and I am LOVING IT!
Wow I feel alive again being a 'part' of something - and I'm SO EXCITED by the number and quality of photographers who have signed up for this.
I will work my tushie off trying to comment on most if not all and wish to SINCERELY THANK anyone who takes the time to comment on mine - that's why I LOVE these side challenges, you get to know people and REALLY experience the helping hands that are always on offer around here!
This is my first try at a 30 day challenge and it looks like it will be fun, thanks for having me along, i'll try to give positive feedback to every shot. be nice to meet you lot over the 30 days and get to know you all a bit better, feel free to PM me at anytime you wish even if it's just to say HI. I always reply.
OK well as a newbie and entering my first side challenge I am not sure what the correct form is, so if I am making an error and should be posting on my image rather than the forum please say and I will correct the error of my ways...

I have only just got photoshop and cannot really figure it out yet (I am also on the mentoring course for that) so you will have to forgive my PP.
All I can say is that I will take everyone of your comments on board and try to improve my photography from them

BTW Lisa...all I can say is that you have made Ev's eyes rather more sparkly with your comment!!!

What photoshop do you have?
There are some great people around here who offer the most generous, user friendly support - I'm sure they'll pop up in the challenge.
I also have a few great books that have assisted me with photoshop

I was a photoshop virgin and thought with these young puppies around I'd never catch on, but I've really got a lot from these books and even more so from searching the forums and using the Tutorials. All these resources are so enriching - hope you enjoy your 30 days, I look forward to watching you BLOOM!
