So I just had an idea, perhaps it would take off?
Basically, someone posts a simple assignment for a shot. The first person to respond (with a picture) then gives the next assignment.
The idea would be to take simple, quick shots but make them as good as you can - so don't waste time poking around in PP; shoot it, levels/crop/whatever, post and move on.
Maybe this ends up with a succession of crappy images, in which case it's not a success, but I bet people can come up with some good ones.
