Could a search field be included on this page so that it is quick and easy to find former versions of the current challenge, or see whether a particular challenge has ever been done ?

Well repeat challenges always have like, a II or III in their name so you'll know if it's been done before. Then just show all challenges in challenge history and use your browser search function to find it on that page.

Well yes . .obviously - but even after sorting the challenge titles alphabetically, it can still be a fair few pages to scroll through to try and find it

This seems a bit much. I found myself constantly trying to locate prior challenges when a II, III, IV, etc. challenge is announced and never had much luck.
Sure would nice to have a simple search form there to search for challenge titles.
I find the following way to be the easiest. Go to Challenge History. Filter it so that all challenges are showing at once (click all of the boxes on the left side.) Then, hit Control "F" and enter in the name of the challenge. By hitting "previous" and "next" it will take you to any other challenges that have that name.

I find it interesting that so many suggestions are basically rejected with something like "just do this in Google" or "Just use these browser features." I'm not saying those tricks are hard, and I realize many of us do know browsers inside and out. But not everyone.
And if they were intuitively obvious and just as easy, people wouldn't keep suggesting that the site do it for them.
What happened to designing a Web site so it could be used intuitively, without being an expert browser user?
Now, I could certainly understand Langdon saying "I'll toss it on the pile of things to consider, which currently has 250 enhancements on it."
Or even people saying "it's a good suggestion, but until it's implemented, here's a workaround."
But a workaround and a Web site feature are different beasts.
