Ever since reading about diffractions issues at small apertures (f/16 or thereabouts and smaller), I've become interested in this technique of combining multiple shots at large(r) apertures and combining them. With my first attempt (measurbation) in this thread, I was able to push the dof beyond the physical limits of my lens by achieving something smaller than f/64.
Recently, I was able to give it another attempt in the field, while doing some macro work (with a tripod). Below is the result of four images. I wish I had something between layers 3 and 4, but I'm fairly pleased with the result. I know it's a little on the dark side, but that's a result of my raw preview batch process; I'll fix it for my final version.
