Just wanting to get some feedback from ya'll about how you make the final decision as to which photograph you want to use for a challenge. I have two in the running, but picking which one best represents the theme "Shapes" is becoming more and more difficult the more I look at both of them.
maybe get several opinions from friends.. or make a checklist (after taking a break from looking at the photos) of what you think a good photo should have.. and return and assign 'advantages' to each photo.. see which one might come out on top?
What I plan to do is to take a lot of shots at the beginning of the week, let a few settle and maybe redo one or two that feel right before finally submitting. The key point here is to let an image settle before deciding.
My highest scores have all been ones that were done like that. Conversely, my lowest scores were all highly temperamental one-offs.

Jaimee has a very powerful logic backing up her statement. However, I'd urge people to investigate, develop and improve their individual style in photography rather than to pander to the masses.
Don't get me wrong, knowing how to pander is a very useful skill, and I know one photographer here who does just that to garner votes. Still, it's a far nobler cause to present what we really feel to be valuable, even if we know that we won't get the votes to win.

I say take shots for yourself that you like, but for entries here, you might as well pander to the masses. Enter what does well here, but do your regular work for yourself. Why not have the best of both worlds? Shoot what you like for you, and score highly, too!
Thanks for the advice everyone. I will always shoot for 'myself', but it's got to give you the warm fuzzy's to receive a good vote.
The thing is, I can pick apart both of them (too critical on myself), so I think I'll just walk away and focus on taking shots for a different challenge. I supposed I can always post the 'other' photograph up after the challenge.
I've had three choices for my last 2 challenge entries (one still current).
Asked three people at work ... got three different answers, in both cases!
In the end I have come up with the following strategy .....
Keep changing my mind every hour or so, swap the photo, keep swapping it constantly ... whichever photo happens to be there when the challenge ends gets in ;)
