'tis one of the reasons we have so many challenges now. The original idea was to divide the huge number of entries in the open challenge into two challenges, only one of which you could enter. It helped.
I think, what might be needed now is a similar aspect to the Free Studies. Perhaps 4 different Free Studies a month. One for each editing rule-set. You can only enter one of them.
Conversely, we could have the Free Studies separated into basic "themes".. but that could get very unwieldy.
I think the Editing Ruleset separation, however, would be a fine idea.
