I had this idea the other day when I saw a short program on TV about Monet, the painter. I think it would be an interesting project to think about.
Pick a spot of natural beauty (or just somewhere outside if you want) that is easily accessable to you. One day in January, go there, and take a photo. Remember where you were and what time you took the photo. If you took the photo on Jan 4th, go back to the same spot and take another photo on Feb 4th. You could print out your January photo as a reference so you can get in exactly the same place. Do the same on March 4th, April 4th, etc, right up to December. It doesnt have to be the exact same day, but the nearer the better.
It will be interesting in a years time to see everyone's collections. If the photos are good, you can use them to make a 2005 calendar, a perfect gift for Christmas :)
I'm going to give this a go, and I'd like to see other people's series' too at the end of next year.
I actually thought about doing this a year ago when I first got my digital. I was gonna do the same thing with my house only on a weekly basis and email to my mom so she could see the neighborhood...

Good idea Ben. I already have something like that going. I call it the "La-Z-Boy" project to track how my son is growing and changing. Samuel was born on September the 10th. I'm going to take a picture him on my La-Z-Boy chair on every 10th day of the month. Here it is:
I've done something similar based on a layout I saw in a magazine years ago (I think it was Life). A father took his infant daughter to sit on Santa's lap shortly after she was born, then took her again every year for 18 years. He only stopped when Santa pinched her on the bottom. I took my first daughter (and now my second) to get pictures taken on Santa's lap every December 16th since they were born. I still have a while to go till it's finished, the older one is just 13. Eventually I will have to figure some way to mount them in a single frame.
Thanks for posting that, kostia. It's really cool. I'm impressed that they were disciplined enough to do it every year for that long. It's amazing how much people change in only one year. Thanks again.
