Well, I for one have been busy with school, but I'm in Still with a decidedly not lifeless and desaturated entry.
But I agree, the community as a whole seems to have turned a shade darker than it was when I joined almost exactly a year ago. I can't imagine anyone back then making some of the snarky, sneering comments I've seen lately.
Leroy, I been thinkin for weeks now that something just doesnt seem right in DPC land, so it isn't just you. Don't know what it is - maybe a shift in membership, maybe spring fever... but I hope it works out soon too.

My theory: People get antsy when light changes; light changes so much when seasons change, and photographers are affected by light more than the regular population, so you can imagine how grumpy all those photogs are right about now.

I noticed this not that long ago. But when I said something I got my head bitten off and the thread was locked. Hmmm...it seems I wasn't too far wrong.

Definitely not just you. I have watched DPC come apart at the seams many times in the time I've been here (3 years). It gets patched back together, but with the long-term issues never resolved the community has become rather frayed and patched.
Those that have been around longer than I have speak of a time when the site was even more civil and fun than I ever knew -- so it's been gradually unravelling for quite a while.
Like I said before, for me a lot of it is just that school gives me a lot less time for shooting. However, maybe school was just well-timed. I'm still out every weekend, I generally still manage to get at least one entry in every week (though it's not unusual to skip a week entirely), but it seems like I'm no longer shooting for DPC so much as I'm going out to shoot and simply happening across something that works for a challenge. I've been shooting a fair bit of film lately. Basically, I've not stepped away from photography, but I've drifted away from DPC a little bit, and I do think the community's mood shift has something to do with that.
