I like it. Has the appeal of a painting with the reality of a photo. Dramatic sky, breakers on the beach, nice composition. Maybe a little grainy and dark, but close to those paintings on sale at seashore gift shops for general appeal. (I meant that as a compliment.)
It looks pretty colorful, as if the saturation was boasted quite a bit. However, the noise of the image is a bit too much and pulls away from any painted look. Also what my eyes try to pick as the focal point, the light house, looks kinda fuzzy.
It's a beautiful place you have found to capture though. I'd go back with a tripod, lower ISO, longer shutter and get in front of those plants in the foreground. Then play with some paint-ish techniques in photoshop :)
Actually, I did have my tripod and shot at ISO 50 at f5.6 The colors are pretty close to the reality of what was there. The noise was added in PS. The problem was that the wind was 40+ knots and was sandblasting both me and the camera, not to mention the spray that kept freezing over the filter on the front of the lens, even though I was at least 100 meters away from the lake.

but the weather was much less violent.
I added the noise in PS trying for an impressionistic effect, but, well, maybe not.....
I agree about the dark part, so I reposted the photo after lightening it up. The grain/noise was intentional and was added in PS, but it seems to bother viewers rather than enhance the image. Either the effect is not strong enough or it should be taken away. Maybe I'll file these away for a bit and look at them later. Maybe I can make them work then.
I actually thought it quite lovely and that you had achieved what you were looking for. Perhaps it's because we live near the ocean and I know how difficult it is to really get that much color. Frankly, I find that beach shots are really difficult to get just right. I do a lot of surfing photography, and it's rare that I'm entirely pleased with the result.
I went back today, and while it was MUCH less windy and the lake was much calmer, it was still very cold, especially out on the pier. This is what I got:

Have any of you experienced your camera malfunctioning or behaving erratically when it is cold. I think it was probably about -15F or so accounting for windchill.
