There is also a Shadow Recovery plugin that is designed for 10D files, perhaps it will have slightly better results when you have a 10D.

I didn't use the Shadow Recovery Pro (with build-in, non standalone ISOx Pro) on this pic, but got better results by using the method described by DPC's Tim Jensen in his Improving Shadow and Highlight Detail tutorial. I recorded an action based on this tutorial. I only have to alter the sliders and flatten the image.
Anyway, cool pic, and I'll be coming to visit you soon for sure to do some windmill stuff with you okay? Our last meeting fell through, but next time it'll happen.
It sure will. Don't know about the soon part, december is pretty busy. I hope that there will be some snow and ice in January or February so that we can create some nice Winter landscapes. And if that doesn't work out it will soon be Tulip Time again in windmill country. :)
Anyway, where was the trash can? Not much I would change from my point of view. You could probably bring in a bit more dramatical effect by burning the clouds to make give them a stormy effect, also lighten the front side of the front mill by dodging it a little. Otherwise an awesome pic, even as it is!
The trash can was at the bench, near the underside of the frame, below the middle windmill at the end of the shadow of the big one in front.
Dodging the frontside will not work unfortunately. It is already a corrected shadow area and holds no further detail.
