My entry in le RED challenge had a validation request (I assume for the pretty editing :) which I complied with.
Just got notification that the date created was before challenge start date.
Checked the Exif and there it was. Checked my camera, and there it was too. Seems my camera lives about a week in the past!
Now, I used to be active on DPC about a year ago, and I know I checked and set the camera date and time when I entered my first challenge.
Rules are rules and at 5.88, I don't mind the DQ so much but I am wondering what would cause it to lose a week? I am guessing the time and date is run off the Cmos battery like a pc?
I have only had trouble with the camera once. That was this weekend when it wouldn't switch off, so I had to yank out the battery. Still running the original Firmware.
My camera resets itself occasionally when I change batteries. Its always a good idea to check the date/time if the battery has gone completely dead or if the camera has been put away for a little while.

yeah this has happend to me twice, the first time the entry was at 6.4 and the date two years behind, the second time at 6.8 and the date exactly one year behind! lol

That's not gonna help much, though :-) You gotta check before you SHOOT! Make it a habit, when shooting for DPC, to check time/date as part of your setup procedure.
A *lot* of people got burnt by date errors last year, because on a little LCD screen a "5" looks a lot like a "6". At least in '07 it's a little harder not to notice you're a year off.
Good reminder to go and check date and time, especially if you're in an area of the US where daylight savings time just kicked in.
My camera slips a day every so often, so I always check it before I shoot. I've never been DQ'd over it, but once had to pull an entry I really liked before a challenge - I saw the error in the EXIF data when I was looking at aperture, etc.
